Extra Financial Services
Other than competitive rates, there are additional services that Legacy offers other than Loans and Certificate Accounts.
Legacy also offers a variety of checking accounts for all ages. Everyday Checking is available for ages 13 and up, and has perks like no minimum balance and no monthly fees. For members who use Legacy as their primary financial institution, Engage Checking is our preeminent checking product. When monthly qualifications* are met, members can earn 3.0% APY** on balances up to $15,000.
Credit Cards are another service that Legacy offers to help members build their credit. With rates as low as 8.90% APR***, members can receive a lower interest rate compared to larger credit card companies (Discover, American Express, etc.).
Legacy offers opportunities to educate our members about their finances. Each month, Legacy hosts Life Lessons Webinar which covers topics like Budgeting, Retirement, and Home Ownership. Members can register for free or or reach out to our Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor for access to recordings of previous webinars. Legacy also provides monthly blogs with tips and tricks for financial freedom.
Nearly 50% of credit unions have a specific mission to serve low-income communities. No matter what kind of neighborhood, city or town people live in, credit unions intend to connect their local community with affordable financial services. Legacy looks to make an impact in the Greater Birmingham Area through the Legacy For Good Foundation. Through events like Books for Babies and our annual Christmas Toy Drive, Legacy members and employees are able to help support those who are underserved.
Additional Member Perks
Members of Legacy Credit Union don’t just receive perks through lower interest rates and higher dividends. They also can save money through Love My Credit Union rewards. Members can save money on things such as insurance, filing taxes, and home protection. Read more about those benefits here.
When you think of a credit union, many people think it’s the best place to secure a better rate than from a big bank. This is because credit unions are owned by their members, unlike banks, which are owned by shareholders and must distribute their profits to their owners. Because we don’t have to pay profits to shareholders as banks do, credit unions often can pass that money on to their members by offering higher APY (Annual Percentage Yield) on saving accounts and CDs and lower APRs (Annual Percentage Rate) on loans.
Financial institutions are plentiful in today’s world, but being a member of Legacy Credit Union is like discovering a hidden treasure. From competitive rates that makes your money work harder for you, to a wide range of financial services designed to meet your unique needs, your membership here is so much more than just an account. It’s a testament to your commitment to a better financial future. As a member, you’re not just a customer; you’re part of our family. You’re not just a number; you’re a valued individual with dreams and aspirations.
