Legacy Welcomes New SVP of Lending

Carl Smith, SVP of Lending

Legacy Credit Union welcomes Carl Smith as the Senior Vice President of Lending. Carl comes to Legacy from First Southern Bank in Florence, Alabama. His wife and two daughters, both of whom will be attending UAB in the fall, now reside in Birmingham.

Carl began his journey in financial services working on the front lines for Max Credit Union in Montgomery, and since that time, he has built a career of over twenty years, primarily as a lender. He received his undergraduate degree in finance from Auburn University in Montgomery, and he earned his MBA from the Dothan campus of Troy University. At Legacy, Carl will oversee all of the activities of our Lending Teams which include Dealer Services, Centralized Lending, and Real Estate Lending.

The senior leadership team at Legacy consists of Paula Miller, CFO, Summer Carter, SVP of Member Experience, and Carl Smith, SVP of Lending.
