Christmas In July

It’s hard to believe that the year is already half way over and before you know it, you’ll be carving the Thanksgiving turkey. But before the holiday season arrives, take the steps to ensure that you aren’t weighed down by the expenses that accompany it.

Make Your List, And Check it Twice

Review your list and decide who you plan to buy for. Whether your family starts a new tradition of drawing names, setting spending limits, or only buying for the kids this year; choose an option that works for your family. Holidays are expensive for everyone and by discussing early, everyone is on the same page and avoids disappointment.

In addition, after discussing with your family and friends, you can set a budget. Setting your budget allows you to find additional cash to put back to save. In addition, you can begin setting the amount of money that you’ll spend on non-gift items (gift wrapping, travel expenses, holiday parties, etc.).

Early Christmas Deals

Purchasing items early provides a break for you to utilize non-Christmas shopping sales, be more calculated with your gift ideas, and avoid crowds. Getting this six-month head start also allows you time to shop around for the best price, or even exchange items for a lower price if it goes on sale.

Many websites offer a “Christmas in July” sale to help alleviate the pressure of shopping in November and December. While everyone knows about great Black Friday or Cyber Monday shopping deals; you should also consider the following sales for purchasing other items before the leaves change: Prime Day (July 12-13), End-of-season sales, Labor Day sales.

Christmas Savings Accounts

Legacy offers a Christmas club account to help you save for holiday spending. Setting aside money each week and placing it in a savings or club account prepares your wallet for buying your loved ones gifts. For example, just setting aside $50 a week between now and the first week in November, helps you save $900. Once November rolls around, the money is automatically transferred into your checking account so that you can begin purchasing.

From today, July 5, 2023, there are 25 Mondays until Christmas!
