What is changing
Changes to the rules for Automated Clearing House (ACH) processing for ACH debits (payments) are going into effect nationwide on September 15, 2017. As a result, payments may clear your account on the same day you authorize them instead of a day or two later beginning September 15, 2017. This processing change may also affect the checks you write.
What you need to know
It is important for you to make sure sufficient funds are available in your account before you make or schedule payments or write checks to avoid unnecessary insufficient funds, overdraft, or courtesy pay fees. Previously, ACH payments or checks could have taken 1-2 days to post to your account. Now those payments or checks may post on the same day you authorize them.
