EMV Chip Cards

Recently you may have heard media reports about the October 1 implementation of new EMV Chip Card technology. 

Chip Cards are payment cards with embedded chips, offering advanced security when used to pay in store, or to access funds at an ATM.   Chip cards are based on a global payment standard called EMV, used in over 80 countries.  EMV is an abbreviation for Europay, Mastercard and Visa, the three organizations that developed the initial specifications.

As a Legacy member, you will see no changes in your Debit Card at this time. All changes are on the merchant-facing side only. As always, Legacy debit cards will have Visa’s Zero Liability protection, so you are fully protected in the event of fraud.
