General Merger Questions:
Why did 1st Resource Credit Union merge with Legacy Credit Union?
Legacy and 1st Resource share similar culture and values and place the same strong emphasis on member service. Legacy will be able to provide new products and benefits, and it increases access to a wider branch network. Legacy is committed to providing 1st Resource members the highest level of service and personal attention.
What are some key upcoming dates to know?
- October 25th, 2022: 1st Resource Membership Votes in Favor to merge into Legacy Credit Union
- December 1, 2022: With approval from NCUA, Legacy officially merges with 1st Resource
- January 30, 2023: The last date which you can make a bill pay payment through 1st Resource
- January 31, 2023: 1st Resource branch will close at 1PM CST. At this time, 1st Resource online banking will no longer be available, and services such as repay and bill pay will not be available. At 1PM CST on 1/31, debit cards will no longer be active and ATM cardholders will no longer be active.
- February 1, 2023: By 12PM CST on this date, all 1st Resource accounts are fully integrated into the Legacy system. 1st Resource members must now activate their new Legacy VISA debit card and may enroll in Legacy online or mobile banking.
How will the merger affect me?
Your existing 1st Resource accounts will be integrated into the Legacy core system on February 1, 2023. Once this occurs, you should experience no changes other than the following:
- New Legacy branded debit card (if you have a checking account)
- New account statements
- Access to a new digital banking system (online and mobile app)
- Your dividends will begin posting monthly to your account
Unless otherwise notified, your existing loan and certificate of deposit accounts and terms will remain the same. In the future as a Legacy member, you may experience more favorable rates and terms.
Will my account number/routing number change?
Unless you are notified by mail/email, your account number will remain the same at Legacy as it was at 1st Resource.
You will not need to update your MICR/Routing number for any ACH payments at this time. If you need assistance to setup your new payroll or new ACH method, you can call our Contact Center at 205-930-5000 or [email protected]. We will be able to provide you with any accurate MICR/Routing information. An example of this would be with your employer’s HR department for setting up payroll/direct deposit.
Will the 1st Resource branch remain open?
Yes! The West Oxmoor branch location will remain open and become the Legacy Homewood Branch open to all Legacy members on February 1, 2023.
What about the existing branch staff?
You will continue to receive the same excellent service from the existing branch staff. Retaining the staff and welcoming them into the Legacy team is a top priority during the changes ahead.
When will I be able to use other Legacy branches?
After February 1, 2023, you will be able to utilize any Legacy location or branch within our shared network.
Will I still be able to use service center/Co-op branches?
Yes you will have access to over 5,000+ shared branches nationwide. Please note that after February 1, 2023, you will need to identify yourself as a Legacy Credit Union member when conducting service center transactions.
What ATM’s do I have access to?
After February 1, 2023, you may access any Legacy ATM location and you will also have access to surcharge free ATM’s nationwide through the MoneyPass network that you can find at moneypass.com.
Will branch hours of operation change?
Yes, after February 1, 2023, the hours of operation will be the following:
Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Friday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
What do I do if I already have an account with Legacy?
You will have the option to consolidate your accounts into one. If you wish to do this or speak to someone about consolidating your two accounts, contact us at 930-5000 or [email protected]
Will the 1st Resource phone numbers change?
Yes, all employee phone numbers have been updated and you will need to contact the Legacy Contact Center for any questions or concerns at 205-930-5000. For the next several months, if you dial an old 1st Resource phone number, it will direct you to the Legacy Contact Center.
How can I contact Legacy Credit Union about my account(s)?

Do Legacy ATM/s accept deposits?
At this time, Legacy ATM’s do not accept deposits. While you cannot deposit checks at our ATM’s we do offer Remote Deposit Capture through our mobile app saving you time and money driving to an ATM. We do have night depositories at all of our nine branch locations.
Are there any new fees I should be aware of?

Will the merger affect my loan(s)?
Your loan will have the same rate, terms and conditions, and will remain unchanged through the lifetime of the loan.
DIGITAL BANKING (Online & Mobile App)
Will my online and mobile banking access change?
Yes, your current username/password will be inactive on January 31, 2023 by 1PM CST. After February 1, 2023, you will need to setup a new username/password on the Legacy Digital Banking platform (online or mobile).

Can I keep my current username and password?
Yes, if your current username or password meets the Legacy system requirements. Usernames must be 8-25 characters and can include alpha/numeric, but no symbols. Passwords must be 8-25 characters, include one upper case, one lower case, one number, and one special character (one of the following must be used: @ . – ! _ # $ ). Passwords can have up to four consecutive repeated characters.
What do I need to enroll for mobile and online banking?
To enroll, you need to identify yourself by providing:
- Your member account number
- Social Security Number
- Date of Birth
A One Time Passcode (OTP) will be sent to the mobile number on file and you will enter that code when prompted. Please note a mobile number MUST be on file with your account in order to receive a security code and complete enrollment. If you do not receive, a secure access code upon first attempting to log in, your contact information on file may be incorrect. Please contact us to update this information at 205-930-5000.
Can the joint owner on my account use Digital Banking?
Yes, each owner on the account will be able to setup his or her own username and password.
Will I be able to login to online or mobile banking to view my accounts and make transfers?
Yes, after February 1, 2023, you will be able to enroll as a new user in Legacy Digital Banking and handle your finances on any device, anytime, anywhere.
Will I be able to see previous account history?
After February 1, 2023, you will not see past account history on Legacy Digital Banking. However, all members will receive a paper statement in the mail for January transactions. If you need a print out of your statement or history for specific dates, please contact our Contact Center or [email protected].
CHECKING/DEBIT CARD/ATM CARD
Can I keep using my 1st Resource debit card?
You may continue to use your 1st Resource debit card through January 31, 2023. While you may receive a new Legacy debit card in the mail sometime mid-January 2023, please wait to activate your new Legacy debit card until AFTER February 1, 2023 to avoid complications.
Can I keep using my 1st Resource ATM card?
You may continue to use your 1st Resource ATM card through January 31, 2023. After this date, you will not be issued a new ATM card, as Legacy no longer provides this service. Many members who typically use an ATM card also qualify to open an Everyday Checking account that comes with a free debit card. Please inquire about opening up an Everyday Checking account if you need ATM access after February 1, 2023.
Will my checking account stay the same?
On February 1, 2023, your 1st Resource checking account will be converted to a Legacy Everyday Checking account. You can find all the details about this account in our detailed Everyday Checking Product Guide on our website.
Will my 1st Resource checks still work?
Yes, you will be able to use your checks even after February 1, 2023. However, if you need to order new checks we ask that you give us a call at 205-930-5000 so we can order them through the appropriate check provider.
CREDIT CARD
Can I still use my 1st Resource Credit Card?
Yes, you will continue to use your current 1st Resource credit card now through the expiration date of the card. We will notify you before any changes are made for your credit card.
Will my rate and terms remain the same with my Credit Card?
Yes, your terms and conditions remain unchanged.

Will loan decisions still be local and quick?
Yes, the merger with 1st Resource Credit Union brings an increase of additional loan officers located right in Birmingham to serve you. The same friendly, quick service you receive today will continue.
Will my accounts continue to be insured?
Your accounts will continue to be federally insured just as they are today through the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, which is backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government and managed by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
